Anomalous buoyancy of quantum bubbles in immiscible Bose mixtures

چکیده
Buoyancy is a well-known effect in immiscible binary Bose-Einstein condensates. Depending on the differential confinement experienced by two components, bubble of one component sitting at center other eventually floats to surface, around which it spreads either totally or partially. We discuss how quantum fluctuations may significantly change volume and position bubbles. consider particular case miscible forming pseudoscalar condensate with enhanced (quantum bubble), immersed bath provided third component, they are immiscible. show that such peculiar effective mixture, equilibrium pressures define modify as well criterion for buoyancy. Once buoyancy sets in, contrast mean-field case, place an intermediate between surface. At transition into floating self-bound droplet.

Fermi-Bose and Bose-Bose K-Rb Quantum Degenerate Mixtures
We describe the properties of mixtures composed by potassium and rubidium atoms, simultaneously trapped in a magnetic potential. Potassium isotopes are cooled down to quantum degeneracy by means of sympathetic cooling with rubidium [1]. We can produce both a two-species Bose-Einstein condensate [2] mixing together Rb and K, and a degenerate system composed by a Fermi gas of K atoms and a Bose-E...
متن کاملQuantum phases of Bose-Fermi mixtures in optical lattices.
We analyze the ground-state phase diagram of an ultracold Bose-Fermi mixture placed in an optical lattice. The quantum phases involve pairing of fermions and one or several bosons. Depending on the physical parameters these composites can form a Fermi liquid, a density wave, a superfluid or a domain insulator. We determine by means of a mean-field formalism the phase boundaries for finite tunne...
متن کاملNonlinear Photon Bubbles Driven by Buoyancy
We derive an analytic model for nonlinear “photon bubble” wave trains driven by buoyancy forces in magnetized, radiation pressure-dominated atmospheres. Continuous, periodic wave solutions exist when radiative diffusion is slow compared to the dynamical timescale of the atmosphere. We identify these waves with the saturation of a linear instability discovered by Arons — therefore, these wave tr...
متن کاملLasing in Bose-Fermi mixtures
Light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation, well-known for revolutionising photonic science, has been realised primarily in fermionic systems including widely applied diode lasers. The prerequisite for fermionic lasing is the inversion of electronic population, which governs the lasing threshold. More recently, bosonic lasers have also been developed based on Bose-Einstein condensa...
